Mediation

Mediation is a voluntary and informal settlement process. The mediator is an impartial third party. The role of the mediator is to assist the parties in a negotiation that will lead to a voluntary settlement of their issues.

Virginia is an experienced mediator and has offered mediation services since 1994. She received her training and certification in alternative dispute resolution from the University of Toronto. Virginia’s primary focus as a mediator is family law, but she also mediates estate and commercial matters.

Virginia believes in her clients’ ability to reach their own agreements when adequately supported in a negotiation process that is informative, transparent, non-judgmental and cost effective. As a neutral facilitator, Virginia offers a non-adversarial environment for the discussion necessary to bring about an orderly and respectfully structured settlement.

At the conclusion of the mediation, Virginia will draft a document that will serve as the prototype of the final legal agreement for review by the parties and their independent legal advisors.
